THE 7TH FLOOR was founded in 2000 by Allen Bain and Jesse Scolaro with the objective to produce dynamic motion pictures for commercial distribution. Their films have been nominated for 5 Independent Spirit Awards and have premiered at every major international film festival including Sundance, Cannes, Toronto, Berlin and Venice. The 7th Floor also co-produces and provides production services for producers seeking strategic partnerships.
ALLEN BAIN is co-founder and a producer at The 7th Floor, a leading independent production company based in New York. Most recently, he produced "The Missing Person" starring Michael Shannon and Amy Ryan, "The Cake Eaters" with Kristen Stewart, Bruce Dern, Elizabeth Ashley and Aaron Stanford by Director Mary Stuart Masterson. Currently, he is producing Oscar-winner Robert Legato's directorial debut "Choose" starring Kevin Pollak, Katheryn Winnick and Bruce Dern. Prior producing credits include; the Sundance winner "Manito", South By Southwest audience favorite "Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story", and "ROOM" which was well recieved at both the 2005 Sundance and Cannes Film Festivals. Bain was nominated for the 2006 IFP Producer to Watchaward. He has been a visiting lecturer at Columbia University.
JESSE SCOLARO graduated from the SUNY Purchase film conservatory in 1997 and spent the next few years working his way up the production ranks, while learning all facets of filmmaking. In 2000, he co-founded The 7th Floor with longtime friend and colleague, Allen Bain. Since then, Scolaro has produced 20 feature films and has received numerous accolades including a Producer to Watch nomination at the 2003 Independent Spirit Awards for his Sundance award-winner "Manito" and a nomination for the John Cassavetes Award at the 2006 Independent Spirit Awards for "ROOM" which premiered at the Sundance and Cannes Film Festivals. Jesse resides in Brooklyn, NY with his wife, whom he met on a film set, and their newborn son, Cassavetes Scolaro.
